The Mohua is named after the delightful but endangered native bird, AKA the Yellowhead. The Mohua is a soprano C-whistle made primarily from aluminium. It has a quite different tone to the Clarke or Feadog whistles, because of its curved windway lip. This whistle is tough, made from Al with a 1mm wall thickness. The mouthpiece is wooden, with a laminated plywood cover, which reduces the amount of condensation compared to whistles with a metal cover. The copper painted bell is moulded from plastic.

Each whistle is carefully hand tuned to concert pitch A=440Hz, C=523Hz, within the limits of variable air temperature and how hard you blow. Range is two octaves, C5 to B6, and maybe a couple of notes higher although they are rather loud! Besides the key of C, the whistle is easily played in Dorian mode (the scale starting on D), in F by half-holing the B and of course Am. My whistle has a very comfortable mouthpiece shape compared to most PVC or aluminium whistles. Instruction sheet included, they are shipped in a triangular package which is very strong.

Delivery time is typically two weeks or less. Sorry, Yellowhead bird not included :-).
